Duaiseanna Gaeilge/Irish Language Awards

9th Feb 2026
Fri Feb 6th saw this year's Duaiseanna Gaeilge being presented.
The event is sponsored by Filip Slipaczek whose late mother Christine Maher was a native of Kilfrush and attended primary school here in Hospital many years ago before moving to England and marrying a Polish man. Filip likes to support the school that his mother attended and has a keen interest in the Irish language.
An ice-cream treat was in store for all children and one child in each class was given an award to mark their efforts in using our native language. Filip made the trip from the UK to present the awards in person and was assisted by other dignitaries; Richard O'Donoghue TD, Gerard O'Neill Honorary Polish Consul and Michael Treacy.
We thank Filip for his on-going support as well as our "Coiste na Gaeilge" comprised of children from Rang 5 & Rang 6 who are leading all our Gaeilge initiatives this year. Míle buíochas freisin go Mrs Condon, Miss Macnamara agus Miss Coleman don sár obair atá á dhéanamh acu.
Comhghairdeas leis na buateoirí go léir.
